Tips for photographing memorials - DotPhoto.com

1. Shoot the overall scene and be sure to include specific areas of interest. Your photo should have a distinct foreground, middle ground and background for maximum visual impact.

2. Grab some detailed shots of inscriptions, symbols and other interesting architectural elements.

3. Capture the emotion of the moment and include people interacting, reacting to and with the memorial.

4. Be aware of the location of the sun when taking your photo and use the angles and shadowing it casts to your advantage. For the best shots, photograph your memorial during early morning or late afternoon light.

Have a Happy Memorial Day!
