It was a little too high concept - named after a Middle-Age manuscript, "The Very Rich Hours of the Duke de Berry," about the life of everyday people. Alas, nobody knows this except people who watch Jeopardy and the French. And nobody likes the French or understands their language in this country. Potentially, you need make just one call (many lines have in-house wedding coordinators) and - poof - they arrange the ceremony, the menu, the cake, the flowers, the music. Everything, in fact, but the invitations. Some even help obtain wedding licenses. And it's easy to let them handle all the extras, from tuxedo rental to hair and spa appointments, too. Typically, onboard weddings are held in a ship's chapel (if it exists), a lounge, the library or a boardroom.

GETTING THERE

For most travelers, the challenge of getting to and from Hawaii is the only negative on this itinerary.

Flights from the East Coast typically connect in Los Angeles and San Francisco, which means you're adding a five-plus hour flight to the six hours it took to get there from New York, say, or Boston. If you have little ones with you and can spare the time, you may want to consider spending a night or two in California to break up the travel time...

While NCL is currently the only cruise line originating and ending in Hawaii, other lines offer Hawaii itineraries that sail to or from the west coast of the U.S., Mexico or Canada.

The advantage of cruising from the mainland is that you eliminate one or both flights, but keep in mind that you could be adding as many as eight days at sea to the duration of the voyage. Also remember that one-way air fares can be expensive, so you may be better off booking air through the cruise lines and taking advantage of their bulk air rates.

WASHINGTON - Unborn U.S. babies are soaking in a stew of chemicals, including mercury, gasoline byproducts and pesticides, according to a report released Thursday.

Although the effects on the babies are not clear, the survey prompted several members of Congress to press for legislation that would strengthen controls on chemicals in the environment.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Armed bandits in Brazil robbed a vehicle carrying more than 400 breast implants, officials said Tuesday.

“It happened last week, but we only learned about it recently as our clients started complaining. It is the hottest period of the year in terms of implant sales,” said Margaret Figueiredo, director of silicone implant manufacturer Silimed.

MSNBC.com looks at what homes $500,000 can buy across major cities across the United States.

Experts say the three most important factors in real estate are location, location, location.

In California, few home buyers would deny the existence of a housing bubble. The median home price statewide has surged past $500,000, but even half-a-million will not get you much more than a shack in the hottest markets like Los Angeles and San Jose.

Take that same amount to Kansas City and you can buy a near-mansion with 3,000 square feet of living area, a spacious yard, golf course views and four full bathrooms.

Future homeowners in Houston don't need to look very hard for options. In addition to a lot of resale, there is a large amount of new-home construction. Sales continue to break records in the city every month, says real estate agent Susan Bryja of Prudential Gary Greene Realtors. New construction is so plentiful in the Houston area that older homes can take longer to sell. And travel 30 miles out of the city and you can get twice as much for your money.
